I like Sarah Palin!

Earlier during the Democratic National Convention (DNC) I posted my appreciation of Hillary’s speech and someone sent me a comment asking me if I was a feminist because I only commented on Hillary’s speech and not on the speeches given by others at the DNC.

Well, I’m not a feminist.

However I am a supporter of women and promote women’s empowerment. And now since Hillary has had to step backstage, I’m happy to see a new female leader emerge on the political landscape in the form of Sarah Palin.

And although Senator Obama, Governor Giuliani, Senator Biden, and Senator McCain, and many other “men” did a wonderful job speaking at their respective conventions, I think that Sarah Palin held her own against the men.

I’m sure that all these speeches, like Sarah Palin’s, were written by experience speech writers.  But given that this was Sarah Palin’s first foray on the international political platform, I think she deserves kudos for delivering a speech with as much eloquence as Obama and Giuliani.

But there is much more to admire about Sarah Palin that just that Veep candidate speech at the Republican National Convention (RNC). Her outdoor adventurous side, the fact that she entered (and won) a beauty contest just so she could get scholarship money to pay for college tuition, and her fight to clean up Alaskan politics, are a few reasons for why she will become a great role model for women and young girls of this generation.

And as a woman, I’m interested in seeing more women like Palin take center stage and become known for their accomplishments, just like the men are. Whether she becomes the VP or not, Sarah Palin is writing new history for women in the US.

Sarah, I like you and I think you are a great complement to Senator McCain. And Senator McCain, hats off to you for taking almost the entire world by surprise when you announced a young, beautiful, almost unknown (at least outside of Alaska), female as your VP candidate.

I don’t know who will win the elections and I won’t tell you who I’ll vote for, but given the incredible caliber of the four individuals in the political race for President and Veep, I for one am looking forward to some great debates come October 2nd 2008.

I agree. Sarah Palin is a breath of fresh air in American politics. Although a Democrat, I already preferred John McCain as someone with a record we could trust. If you check his record, McCain has always stood up for what is right and not just followed party politics. But, now I believe his message will be heard by larger audience due to assistance from Sarah Palin. You go girl!

  2. Ed Says:

She is FANTASTIC! I pray she runs for President. SHE is what we need in Politics

  3. Ed Says:

Sarah is a breath of fresh air! Lets pray that the contaminated are in DC doesn’t change her.

Well Nipa, I would post a comment disagreeing with you and the other Palin supporters here in comments. But what’s the point? You seem to delete anything negative that is entered into comments.

Ridiculous, really, that you promote yourself as a Social Media expert. Monitoring and filtering your comments is sooooo anti-Web 2.0.

  5. Nipa Says:

Bridget is not happy with me, she feels that I’m filtering and not posting negative comments.

Well, Bridget, as I explained in my email to you, that is definitely not my intent. If the post is not “personally attacking” and if it is relevant, we will post it.

    Happy? :) )
